I am a mother of three very lively children, ages 5, 10 and 14 years. They are delightful children, but teaching them basic norms and values was sometimes more like playing policeman than being a good parent. Rarely did an hour pass by without some form of conflict. It came of some comfort to learn that most families face the same problem.

I designed these games by approaching this problem creatively. I made a reward game using materials I had on hand and soon the whole family was taking part enthusiastically. Angry confrontations and punishments were in the past; now we played a game together instead.

It worked so well that I decided to offer my reward game to other families as well. It is my firm belief that every parent and tutor can benefit from these child rearing tools, which are based on an age old principle: rewarding works
